Starting with the left hand side, the top drawer is home to our dinner and dessert plates. We are starting to run low on round bowls and side plates and will need to start looking at replacements soon. All that needed to be done in this drawer was to take everything out and give it a quick wipe down.
The second drawer down is home to our platters, small pie dishes and lolly bowls for parties. Each party seems to add a new platter to this mountain of platters. It's great to have these ready to use year after year. I have certainly noticed the difference in costs from one party to another as we slowly build up our 'supplies'. Like the top drawer, this drawer also only needed a quick wipe down once it had been emptied.
The bottom drawer on the left hand side holds our pyrex dishes as well as some salad bowls. Before I put everything back into this draw I made sure that every container had it's lid.
The right hand drawers are a lot more fun. First up is the baking drawer - you can read more about it here. It is still functioning perfectly and I'm still so in love with it. It's my 'happy drawer'.
Second drawer down is the spice drawer. Having the spices in a draw all lined up has made cooking meals with the Thermomix a breeze. I love that I know what spices I have available (and what I need to shop for) all the time. (More on the spice drawer here.)
The bottom drawer is the pots, pans and rolling pin draw. Nothing to exciting in here - since the Thermomix we don't use pots and pans much at all anymore. One day soon I might send these to a new home.
And the plates and platters live next to the pantry and oven and across from the dishwasher.
Next on my list in the kitchen is:
> The pantry
> The coffee/tea station
> The fridge/freezer
> The kid's /Tupperware drawers
> The island cupboards and draws.
