Once I have completed a layout - I upload it for printing through Big W photos online. When it arrives, I simply slip the spread into a sleeve in our family album. Done! It is that easy. No catching up. No forgetting what happened on the day (which was something I struggled with before).
I had originally planned to print my layouts as 12 x 12 spreads but each 12 x 12 spread would have cost us $8 (and that is too much for us). Instead I print them as 8 x 8 spreads which cost us $2 a spread from Big W. The two dollars that we spend is priceless and worth every cent for me because I am able to capture more memories quickly and easily. Let's face it - we have our phones out far more than we have our big cameras out. The boys love their new albums. I'll do a post with pictures of what the completed digital albums look like for you soon.
A number of readers asked what I do with the photos that I take on our 'real camera'. Using our Canon is still important to me because there are some things that an Iphone just can't capture the same. I still print all our Canon photos and then make a traditional Project Life layout with them. I add these layouts to our album of digital prints. Our album is a combination of digital and traditional and I love that.
If you have not heard about the traditional Project Life before and are wondering what this is all about - start with these videos. They are both inspiring and informative and will answer more questions than I will be able to in a short amount of time.
Below is a youtube video of the Project Life App - it will run you through how it works. As well as using photos from your phone (like I do), you can upload your camera photos to Dropbox and make layouts using your digital camera photos as well. It will show you this in the video.
If you are interested in what the digital version looks like - I have included some of our recent album layouts for you to have a look at below. I keep them really simple and let the photos do the storytelling.
There are a number of online stores you can purchase Project Life albums and core kits from. Spotlight also sells Project Life items in store.
Happy Project Life-ing ;)
